Day 1: London to Tyddyn Bychan
We leave London behind and head west to Stratford-upon-Avon where you have time to explore this historical gem which was once home to the greatest playwright of all time, William Shakespeare. It’s then over the border to Wales. If you don’t suffer from vertigo, join us on the walk along the impressive Pontcysyllte Aqueduct at Llangollen. We visit the impressive ruins of Dinas Bran Castle above the town and home of many of Welsh myths and legends from the Middle Ages. We have the chance pick up some local produce for an optional BBQ tonight at the idyllic farmhouse, our home for the night

Day 2: Tyddyn Bychan to Caernarfon
We head to the famous ‘Ugly House’, then up the Vale of Conwy past Conway Castle (built by Edward I to contain the Welsh) then towards the north coast where we visit the smallest house in Great Britain. Our journey takes us to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, one of the longest place names in the world. Next, it’s Snowdonia National Park to hike the spectacular scenery north Wales is famous for and a drive through the Llanberis Pass. Next a stop in Beddgelert to visit the ‘Grave of the Dog’. We spend the night next to imposing Caernarfon Castle

Day 3: Caernarfon to Cardiff
We take a hike around the Welsh tribal lands of Dolgellau which lie at the foot of the mountain, Cader Idris. The surrounding lakes of this menacing mountain are said to be bottomless… We then travel onto Aberystwyth, one of the best University towns in Wales. We visit the Devil's Bridge (where the devil was banished from Wales) and go on a gorge walk. Then, off to Builth Wells to hear about the last prince of an independent Wales before journeying through the famous valleys and onto the thriving Welsh capital, Cardiff for a pint of Brains (first one is on us!) before a night out on the town to practise your Welsh on the local

Day 4: Cardiff to Cardiff
Our day begins with Caerleon, the site of a Roman amphitheatre and fortress before leaving the ancient and heading to some more modern Welsh history – the Big Pit. One of the best museums ever, you also get the chance to go down a real coal mine and learn about Wales fascinating (and sometimes tragic) coal mining industry through the ages. After the ‘Heads of the Valleys Road’ we will take a walk along the River Wye, next to the world famous second hand book capital of Britain, Hay-on-Wye, once declared an independent kingdom on 1st April 1977. Back to Cardiff for a huge final night

Day 5: Cardiff to London
The morning is yours to explore - you have the chance to get to know the capital with its castle (originally a Roman fort from where Cardiff gets its name) and the famous Millennium Stadium, home of Welsh rugby. Homeward bound, we visit Tintern Abbey, inspiration to Romantic poet, William Wordsworth before returning to the Big Smoke
